To all my supportive friends,
Thank you for taking time from your busy schedules to attend my first Studio Open House. The chance to visit with you and show you the creative work I’m so enamored with and excited about was wonderful. To be able to see your reactions, view your appreciation, and hear your positive comments was priceless for both Penny and me. That so many of you chose my work for personal items or as gifts for others was simply icing on the cake. Thank You!
The lucky winners of the bead drawing each evening were both men … men with very excited wives!

The winner of Sunday’s drawing was Russ James. Russ’s wife Joni will be the happy recipient of this amber and gold aventurine vortex bead:

Saturday’s winner was Wilson Royer and his wife Minh will receive this amber vortex pendant bead:

You can find me (and my glass work) at the Pike Place Market a limited number of days each week between now and the end of this year. To see my most current schedule, go to my new blog, Torch and Glass.

Rest assured your personal contact information will be kept confidential
If you’re interested in being notified of future private sales I may have, please respond to this email.

Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving, and a Wonderful Holiday Season.

Moving forward ...

I've shared a bit of history in the last two posts. Now to show some examples of some of my work from over the past few months ... several of these have been sold and I show these photos only as samples of what I've been doing ...

Working at Pratt ...

Last fall (2010) I made the decision that I wanted to find out if I could actually work with glass. The best way seemed to be find some instruction, and everyone I talked to could say nothing but good things about the Pratt Fine Arts Center. After having taken several classes (Image Transfer to Glass, Beginning Fusing, Lampwork Beads, Glass Shards & Glass Sculpture) I can tell you that Pratt is a wonderful place to make art!

The following photos of me were made by my photo assistant while I was working in the Pratt Art Center flameworking studio.

... and finally placing the finished bead in a kiln to be annealed for strength.

In the beginning ...

I've been fascinated with glass for much of my life. After 35 years as a successful freelance photographer I finally made the decision to "scratch that itch" and discover if I had the physical skills to actually work and create with glass. I'm pleased to say that "I do".

This blog will be an ongoing, though sporadic, chronicle of my travels through the art of Lamp-work glass; most notably the making of one-of-a-kind, unique, glass beads.

My glass-art can be seen at my table (booth) in the North Arcade of the Pike Place Market in Seattle.
Yes, the same venue where I've sold my photos since 1978.
Since I divide my time between creating in my studio and selling at the market, the best way to know which days I'll be at Pike Place Market during any given week is to contact me at "glass at chuckpefley(dot)com".
